Skild AI, 1X, and stealth groups have bought G1 fleets to generate whole-body motion data for humanoid foundation models. UC Berkeley's Humanoid project (mid-2024) trains locomotion policies on G1 using RSL-RL and Isaac Sim, then transfers zero-shot to hardware. Published controllers reach 2.0 m/s sustained walking and clear stair envelopes up to 20 cm. Berkeley picked G1 over H1 because smaller mass makes crash-recovery cheaper and the SDK exposes joint torque commands at 500 Hz.
