Wheeled enterprise humanoid for security, retail and logistics, released in 2018. No longer marketed: 1X moved its effort to the bipedal consumer NEO, and existing EVE deployments are maintained rather than expanded.
The EVE is a humanoid developed by 1X Technologies (Norway), first announced in 2023 (shipping since 2023). It has been discontinued. Standing 186 cm tall, weighing 86 kg, it can carry payloads up to 15 kg. Performance highlights include a top speed of 4 m/s, a battery runtime of 360 minutes. The platform is equipped with Multi-terrain self-balancing wheels.
EVE has been placed with commercial security operators in the United States as an after-hours patrol platform. It rolls through corridors, opens doors within reach of its two arms, and streams live camera feed to a remote human operator who can take over the drive through a teleoperation link. 1X has framed this as an early revenue path rather than a mass deployment: the robot handles routine walk-through checks that would otherwise be done by a guard, and the human stays in the loop for anything that requires judgment. 1X has not published patrol counts per shift, patrol hours logged per site, or the number of active security customers.
The self-balancing wheel base carries 15 kg of payload at up to 14.5 km/h, which is fast enough to move small parcels, tool kits, and consumables across an office floor or a warehouse aisle without stopping foot traffic. Because EVE stays upright on wheels rather than legs, it avoids the balance loss that bipedal humanoids show on smooth linoleum and polished concrete. The trade-off is that EVE cannot climb stairs, and 1X has not disclosed the exact incline or curb height the wheel base can handle.
1X quotes a 360-minute runtime on a single charge. That covers a standard six-hour shift with no swap and is longer than what most bipedal humanoids on the current market advertise. 1X has not disclosed battery capacity in kWh, charge time to full, or how the runtime degrades under continuous drive at top speed against light manipulation duty. The 360-minute figure is a manufacturer number and has not been independently verified in published third-party testing.
Every EVE deployment doubles as a data pipeline. 1X used teleoperation footage from EVE units in the field to train its Redwood AI model, which the company demonstrated in an April 2024 video showing EVEs sorting laundry and picking up objects without human input. The commercial security work is, in effect, a way to keep robots moving in real environments so the training corpus grows. 1X has not shared how many teleoperation hours were used to reach the demonstrated Redwood behaviors, or how those behaviors performed on a held-out test set.
EVE is the last-generation platform 1X no longer markets: existing enterprise deployments are maintained rather than expanded while the company's roadmap moves to the bipedal NEO. Enterprise customers who need a working platform in 2026 use EVE; the household product line moves to NEO with public preorders in the $20,000 band. 1X has not stated whether new EVE sales continue at scale, or whether existing EVE customers will get an upgrade path to a NEO-derived enterprise platform.
Original branding under the Norwegian parent company Halodi Robotics. Prototype demos focused on the wheel base, the two-arm manipulator, and remote teleoperation over standard IP video links. The robot was pitched as a general-purpose commercial humanoid; specific customer deployments from this period were not publicly enumerated.
Halodi Robotics renamed itself 1X Technologies and closed a $23.5 million Series A2 round led by the OpenAI Startup Fund. The EVE product retained its hardware profile: 186 cm, 86 kg, 15 kg payload, wheeled base. The rebrand aligned the company with the OpenAI investment and shifted the public messaging toward AI-driven autonomy on top of the existing platform.
1X closed a $100 million Series B round led by EQT Ventures with participation from Tiger Global and the OpenAI Startup Fund. The financing was announced alongside a stated intent to scale both EVE production and NEO development. 1X did not publish EVE unit-count targets tied to the round.
1X published a compilation video of EVE units running autonomously on Redwood, its in-house end-to-end neural network model trained on teleoperation data. The demonstration included multi-EVE coordination on light domestic and warehouse tasks. The video was filmed at a 1X facility rather than at customer sites; 1X did not publish the underlying success rate, the fraction of takes that reached the compilation, or reproducibility data.
1X shifted its consumer-facing platform to the bipedal NEO line: NEO Beta was shown in August 2024, followed by NEO Gamma in February 2025, and public preorders for the shipping NEO product opened later. EVE stayed in the catalog as the enterprise-oriented wheeled option. 1X has not disclosed how EVE and NEO production capacity are split, or whether EVE hardware development continues in parallel with NEO.
1X has confirmed that EVE units are in use with commercial security operators in the United States, running under a hybrid model that pairs remote teleoperation with on-robot autonomy for routine drive segments. The specific operator names, site counts, and hours logged have not been publicly disclosed.

1X operates its headquarters and primary engineering site in Norway, and internal EVE units run there for development, teleoperation training data collection, and demonstration footage. This is a first-party site rather than a customer deployment.

Beyond physical sites, EVE units feed a data pipeline that trained the Redwood autonomy model demonstrated in April 2024. 1X has not published the number of hours contributed by field-deployed EVEs versus internal units, so the split between customer-site data and lab data is not visible from public sources.
The self-balancing wheel base cannot climb stairs. This narrows the deployable environment to single-floor sites, ramp-accessible multi-floor sites, and buildings with elevators large enough for a 186 cm robot. 1X has not published a maximum step height, maximum incline, or minimum floor traction coefficient, so site suitability has to be assessed case by case.
EVE carries 15 kg against 25 kg on Apptronik Apollo and 16 kg on Agility Digit — the current published enterprise-humanoid payload range. The gap matters for logistics use cases that involve totes above the 15 kg threshold. 1X has not published a payload-vs-speed curve or a per-arm payload rating.
EVE runs on 1X's proprietary stack. There is no public ROS bridge, no published SDK, and no third-party developer program. Research groups and integrators that want open middleware stay on Agility Digit, Unitree G1/H1, or Boston Dynamics Atlas Research. 1X has not stated whether a developer program is planned.
The published sensor description reduces to the wheel base itself. 1X has not disclosed the camera count, camera resolution, microphone array, force sensors on the arms, or whether EVE carries any depth or LiDAR sensing. Any autonomy claim therefore has to be read against an unknown perception baseline.
The 360-minute figure is a 1X number without an independent verification source. Battery capacity is not published, so the runtime cannot be cross-checked against a known energy budget. Continuous-work runtime under sustained drive at 14.5 km/h has not been reported.
NEO is 1X's successor line rather than a direct EVE competitor. EVE stays wheeled and enterprise-only at 186 cm and 86 kg; NEO is bipedal, 168 cm, 30 kg, and targeted at consumer homes at $20,000. NEO uses tendon-driven actuation for quieter and safer operation in shared living space; EVE uses a rigid wheeled base tuned for corridor speed. The payload numbers cross in an unusual direction: NEO is rated at 25 kg against EVE's 15 kg despite weighing less than half as much, because tendon actuation lets NEO recruit whole-body posture into the lift. Both platforms run 1X's proprietary stack with no ROS support, and both feed the same Redwood training pipeline. For a warehouse or office floor today, EVE is the shipping option; for a home in late 2026, NEO is the shipping option.
Digit is the closest match for EVE by mission: enterprise logistics, tote movement, warehouse floor work. The split is locomotion. Digit is bipedal at 175 cm and 65 kg, walks on backward-articulated legs, and can step over low obstacles and small curbs. EVE is wheeled at 186 cm and 86 kg, holds a 14.5 km/h top speed that Digit cannot match, and runs six hours per charge against Digit's roughly four-hour published base runtime. Digit has ROS 2 support and an Agility Arc cloud SDK; EVE has neither. On payload, Digit is rated 16 kg against EVE's 15 kg — effectively a tie. Choice depends on the floor: smooth open aisles favor EVE for speed and runtime, cluttered floors with steps or curbs favor Digit.
Apollo is the second bipedal enterprise humanoid in the same market EVE competes for. It stands at 173 cm and 72.6 kg, rates 25 kg of payload, and has customer deployments with Mercedes-Benz and GXO Logistics. Apollo runs a modular battery-swap architecture designed for continuous shift operation, whereas EVE runs on a single 360-minute charge. Apollo does not publish ROS support, and public compute detail is limited. Against EVE, Apollo trades speed (EVE moves faster on wheels) for stairs, curbs, and higher payload. Apollo also has larger named enterprise deployments in the public record than EVE does, which changes the risk profile for a purchasing decision more than the spec sheet does.
